Running Man

So while we were hiking at Lake 22 Eli was all about me watching him run and me taking pictures of him running.  So while I enjoy his enthusiasm to run and  with joy and determination  in his heart and mind, I think you guys should enjoy it also!
Because let's face it...if I could be a runner I would!  I do enjoy running but on my terms and when I want too...like when it's not so cold out that it doesn't make my lungs hurt, or raining (a light drizzle is fine), or baking hot!

Anyway, he was just so pleased as punch that he could show me all his running abilities...so here I share with you!

On a side note...if you scroll down really fast it's like a flip book!

45 Minutes

Hello one and all!

Or maybe just one reader since I seem to have fallen off the face of the earth lately!  Who knew having a job and kids would do that!?!

I have so many things I've wanted to write down that I haven't had time to blog!  That's just not right!

So the last day has been hysterical here...and by hysterical I really mean to say is crazy...loony bin crazy!

This all happened in the same day....that day being yesterday and I should have just checked myself into a place but that place is home...aka loony bin!

Enter Eli:

On days he doesn't go to school he's at home with me...I'm not sure how he feels about this most days, I'm sure not like he did last year.  However I enjoy it quite a  bit...he's my baby after all.   Any more time I get with him the better, the boy goes to Kindergarten next year!!! I have no idea what I'll do with myself and all that quiet!  Eli is learning to be his own playmate in some ways and I think that's great he can self entertain....to a point.  He repeats a lot of stuff and is loud...to hear himself I'm sure.  I think it's too quiet for him when all the boys are gone for the day.  I wonder if he'll grow up being that person that has something on all the time or talks to fill the quiet.

So yesterday he was playing Lego's for about an hour or so while I did some laundry and worked out...then we ate lunch together.  After lunch I played Lego's with him for about half an hour and then I had to bail on him before I fell asleep at the table...I mean those things are fun to a point but I can only build so many houses or ships for so long!!!  Off I go to do my laundry after all this and enter the next 45 minutes of my life.

While playing by himself Eli had a song stuck in his head..."I don't know what I been told...all I know is you are old" over and over and over and over...for 45 minutes in varying degrees of silly voices. Along with that there has been a running commentary on exactly everything he was doing.  Anywhere from 'A Lego fell mom, I'm picking it up, to "going to the bathroom mom"...all the while we are still singing his little ditty.  I spent a good deal of time in my bedroom trying to not laugh hysterically and cry all at the same time!  Anyone else experience days like this??? I'm so glad he was ready for preschool this year!  I'm gonna miss I know but he is really ready for what he's doing now and Kindergarten next year!

Later that night I about died laughing because he came out in a Wolverine costume...dressed to the hilt I tell you.  Ran from his room to the living room and jumped in front of Dru and said:
"I have muscles and I know how to use them!"
Watch out now!

Where do kids come up with this stuff you know?

I hope I gave you a chuckled tonight!

Belated Birthday Pictures

This is a really belated birthday cake post by me, but we've been busy and well just deal with it!

;)

So, my kids have a grandma who pays for their birthday cakes....with in reason mind you...what that reason is I have yet to come across .  Anyway, they get to pick a cake out and Grandma and Grandpa pay for the cake.  I believe it is or was a tradition that is being carried out.

So here is the birthday boy himself ON his birthday showing off the cake he picked out!

He loved it and wanted the cake as soon as he laid eyes on it!  Oreo and chocolate covered cherries on it, and a chocolate cake to boot!

Happy 7th birthday Dru! It's going to be a big year I can already tell...you have learned to ride your bike w/o training wheels, you can tie your shoes, AND you have 2 loose teeth!

MY OH MY!

Rain Drops Falling

I have always loved those pictures you see where someone manages to get a picture of a flower with the dew on it or a rain drop on it.
Well on my hike around Lake 22, it had rained at some point the night before and that morning before we got there and I took a lot of pictures hoping I'd get something like this! Yes it's edited but I was tickled  before I edited it!  I am so proud of myself!

Enjoy!

Where Fairies Live

Eli, Nikki and I are pretty certain that we found a fairy home on our hike around Lake 22.

I can't believe just how big this fungus was! I have never, ever in all my traipsing around, seen anything like this.  As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure I haven't seen as many different types of fungus.

Here are 4 different types of fungus...

HA! Just kidding....sort of.

Here is another type of fungus, it was orange in color and totally weird looking!  I took pictures because it really did just capture my eye, and some of them were so big.  God is amazing isn't he?

This is just crazy and cool at the same time!

Birthday!!

At our house we have a tradition...birthday spankings!  You don't know when or where but you know that Dad has been warming his hands up for this very moment.

And then it comes...catches you by surprise...

Surprise!!

I love this look...he really wasn't expecting it...he thought  his dad forgot...silly Dru!

Dad has a hold on him so we all can take our turn giving him 7 ...gentle spankings (as gentle as little boys can be) and a pinch to grow and inch (just mom and dad though! Can you imagine if the brothers did! Oi!

Happy birthday Dru!  You are loved, You are special, and You are such a gentleman and a kind-hearted young man!  To the moon and back my son!

Music That Moves You

I don't know about you guys, but there are times in my life that are defined by music. The summer after I graduated High school was Tom...
