You Are My Sunshine...My Only Sunshine!

Okie Dokie folks! Step right up and take a guess!

Last blog I asked how much you thought Eli weighed...well the grand total is....drum roll please!!! He weighed in a whopping 17.5 lbs! WHEW! And it's a solid 17lbs! They also measure his head circumference and length. So here are those, his head is 17 3/4 inches and his length is an astounding 27inches! And just so you all know, it's extremely irritating that yet ONCE again Frank was right...well closer anyway. It's so annoying!!

Now onto the subject of shots...I talked to my Dr about it and went back and forth about why he thought it was a good idea and my concerns for Eli getting them. Now I have to tell you I like my Dr and I have no problem (in the right circumstance) being on the opposite side of the subject they are on. We have our reasons and our information and our own interpretations. With that being said I told him my reservations (now remember I didn't say he wasn't irritating about where he stands and how he presents his side) but he said even though Eli is tender he'd go ahead and do it cause it there isn't anything conclusive that says one way or the other that having shots will affect him. Now you and I both know there is all kinds of information swirling around out there saying all kinds of things. But really, how do they know that with him being so tender that the shots won't affect him? And I'm not saying Autism, which is the biggie (and maybe I should be more concerned than I am) but what I'm saying is he is tender, just having a shot is traumatic! And that's what I was trying to convey. I'm pretty sure he didn't get that. So I just moved on and went eh whatever. So we discussed the various shots, I asked if just getting them done one at a time was an option, even though I know it means more shots down the road (maybe more cruel). He said it did mean more shots and that if that's what we wanted he'd do it but he didn't think (of course) that doing a bunch at once would be a problem for our Eli. *eye rolling* here. Cause remember he's here at my house seeing everything I see and deal with right? (yes I'm irritated with him) Any who, I opted to go with the Rota Virus (a NASTY virus we've had before) which is an oral form they give and I only chose to go with the DTAP shot...and we'll go from there. I know the Dr would have done at least one more but I was content with that one. Especially with a lot of our winter type colds and viruses showing up later cause of course our winter is going on a bit longer. And with Pertussis being an almost issue for us I was fine with that one. So that's that...over and done with and he does seem to be fine but really tomorrow will be the test, well actually the next couple of days will be. OH! I did forget to mention he gave me a booklet about vaccinations and it's called 'Plain Talk About Childhood Immunization'. And let me tell you, talk about pushing this stuff on you and really coming across as you are the worst parent and person in the world for CHOOSING to not vaccinate you children. Oh my goodness!! If you vaccinate you are a contributing member to the community. If you don't vaccinate you are harmful to the world and your community! SERIOUSLY!?! Okay enough of that

On a more hysterical note...I love my kids. They are funny in their way. Take Ian for example...actually don't take him for an example. That kid takes things way to seriously and he doesn't like it when people are trying to joke with him. He's too serious sometimes. Anyway, lets go to Dru and Lee. I seriously think these two have no idea how funny they are. Situation one: before Sparky was born we were at the mall walking around, hoping to put myself into labor. I had to go to the bathroom and while I was doing that Frank was with Dru and Lee waiting for me. While they are waiting a family walks by them and they are speaking Spanish. So Lee leans into Frank and says:

'Dad are they speaking Spanish?' '

Yes Lee they are'

'Dad! I CAN speak Spanish!'

'You can Lee?' 'Yea aldkfja;ldjfdojfdl;fjlfjdljf (imagine a 4 year old WHITE boys speaking mumbo jumbo)'

We have laughed several times over that one. Well I tell you that little bit so I can bring you this one straight off the presses. Cause it doesn't get any better than this..okay it might. So we are all sitting at the table eating our dinner and enjoying some small talk with each other. As dinner was coming to an end...well so Frank and I were done eating, I was looking out the window and a truck parked across the street with a HUGE flat screen TV in the bed of the truck. So I jokingly said Frank, there's your TV! So he jokes back and says THANKS! So Lee gets up and looks out the window and is staring out there for awhile and then he says this PROFOUND statement: I wonder if their names are Mario and Luigi (one was wearing red and the other was wearing green or blue?) Frank and I ROLLED over that comment. Wondering if the Mexicans moving the TV are Mario and Luigi from Nintendo! I'll remember that one!

Then there is Dru...that kid dresses funny all the time and today was no different from any other day. He chose to wear a Wal-Mart version of the Croc on one foot and a Thomas the Tank Engine shoe on the other foot! Can we call this kid Rainman? He was dressed for success!

Alrighty that's it for tonight...I'm outta here!

  2. EXACTLY!!! And it doesn't worry me other kids not being vax'ed...it's a choice and thank God we live in a country where we have that ablitity to make that choice!! I want to know what and where Lee was thinking when he came up with Mario and Luigi!?!

  3. I'm an old old person :) and I had Polio, mumps, measles and all those horrible diseases. I do get why people are worried about autism, because they don't know what causes it. But let's not do away with all yet. I would spread them out. Daughter won't let them have them all at once. DIL does and Yummy's just spiffy...so who knows!
